Sarah is a beautiful 8yo gaited mare standing at a very stout 15.2h (appox). She was rescued from a sale barn about 6 mos ago by a private buyer. When the buyer's health took a turn for the worse, she was left at the quarantine barn. The operator of the barn contacted us and asked if we would be willing to take Sarah into GAIT, Inc. We agreed and she arrived to us on June 26.
This gorgeous girl is great for the farrier, didn't even flinch when we did vaccines. She stands at the mounting block and will even come back to the mounting block for dismount. She's very naturally gaited with a walk, flat walk and saddle gait. She trailers and is sweet to work with. She's a little rusty with her ground manners, but willing to please and will do what you ask if you're firm on the ground. Under saddle we can't find a hole in her! She's great in the ring, around the barn and out on the trails. She'll do a walk slow enough to ride with non-gaited horses, crosses water, was find with the goats and mini-donkeys riding by. Tied next to strange horses at an away ride to Gettsyburg. She's the real deal and the whole package. Stout, quiet, drop dead gorgeous and super comfy to ride.
Sarah's perfect person will be someone that likes a leisurely trail ride. She's safe enough for a beginner as long as they have good support of knowledgeable horse people to help with ground work. She was not a fan of the wash stall, so that will take a bit of patient training. She's a little rusty with trailer loading, but will load and travels well. We did not try to use clippers on her so not sure how she'll be with that. Sarah is an easy keeper, she's barefoot and walked soundly even on the gravel driveway. This is a pretty darned incredible mare! We are super excited about her if you can't tell.
She is currently located in Thurmont, MD. Her adoption fee is $1300. You can view her video here youtu.be/JP3OF-hGYZs
