Registered Friesian Sporthorse (25% Friesian, 75% Morgan) gelding. Bay. 16.0 hh, 12 yo. Feldspar is looking for his new people. He is a lovely horse who wants nothing more than to hear “good boy!” from his person.
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AD before inquiring.
The good:
Feldspar has a nice walk/trot/canter under saddle. He has been started in basic dressage movements and will leg yield at the walk and trot, side pass at the walk and has a nice turn on the forehand/haunches. He has also been introduced to haunches in and shoulder in at the walk. He will take a jump and seems to enjoy it. Feldspar has been on group trail rides and did well. He has participated in versatility clinics and competitions and loves to figure out the obstacles.
The “needs work”:
Feldspar got a late start in life due to his breeder‘s untimely illness and death. He has only been under saddle for a little less than a year. He can be somewhat insecure and lacks confidence. He needs a quiet, patient, confident and experienced person who will challenge his mind and be firm, but also understanding with him. He is NOT suitable for a lesson program or a program in which he will be ridden by many people. He is also not suitable for the casual rider since he does best in a consistent program. Feldspar’s experience with the world was very limited for his first years, and the world can be a scary place for him sometimes. He can be quite “looky”, and he does require that you are a patient, firm leader when he is unsure. Feldspar is a really sweet boy, and sometimes seems to be more dog than horse. He loves people and has a huge “try”. He has a lot of potential. He is a fast learner and genuinely loves to work and figure things out. He has a lovely trot and an uphill canter. The right person will help him to continue his education and excel.
Feldspar is owned by Sanctuary at Maple Hill Farms, a 501(c)(3) organization in Maine. Please contact Kira, his foster, social worker, and advocate. She thinks the world of him, and is determined to find him a great match, but is in no hurry. An application and references are required, and his ownership is transferred under an agreement to help keep him safe and well throughout his life.
Please call/text Kira for more details (207-592-2626). Fee is in the mid 4 figures. "
